Accessibility

People look for a doctor when they are unwell, which is exactly when a site being hard to use costs the most. We aim at WCAG 2.1 AA. We have not been independently audited against it, so this page says what is built rather than claiming a grade.

What is built in

• Every page works from the keyboard alone, and focus is visible wherever it lands.
• Search fields, filters and buttons carry labels for screen readers, not just placeholder text.
• Text contrast is checked against the AA thresholds on the palette the whole site uses.
• The rotating panel on the home page stops the moment you touch it, and does not move at all if your system asks for reduced motion.
• Layouts reflow to a phone-width screen without a sideways scroll, and text scales when you zoom.
• Diagrams in DocTalk articles carry captions in the page, so the description is read by everyone rather than only announced.

What is not finished

• No independent audit has been carried out. When one is, what it finds will be listed here.
• Older DocTalk images are being checked one at a time for alternative text that describes the diagram rather than naming it.
